Abstract: | In this paper, a control strategy to operate a wheelchair in a hospital is proposed to assist patients. The strategy is tested using a mobile robot that is navigated in a hospital using line following scheme. The mobile robot is operated using both genetic algorithm and A* algorithm for a thorough comparison of the control scheme. The comparison of the results revealed that genetic algorithm is a better solution in controlling the wheelchair in a hospital environment. |
